While it may appear to some (not to Job) that God tricked Job, he obviously would have made the same commitment. Job did not curse God and die, as suggested by his wife. Baumeister Bushman go on to say, If the answer is yes, behave consiste ntly with the commitment. If the answer is no, dont do it! (pg 266 Baumeister Bushman) To whom or what is your commitment to freedom or slavery, God, or self? Job was engulfed in conflict resolution, but mostly within and his three friends did not help. Job may have even been angry to some extent. God said he was blameless, Job knew he served God, and loved others, but his three friends kept him in conflict and Job wondered before God why and what is going on. Job was then confronted by a youth after Jobs three friends could not win an argument with Job, nor convince him of any wrongdoing. Remember, Job was blameless. Elihu said (with disgust) to all three friends of Job, I will not answer Job with your arguments and then let Job have it. We do not see anywhere that Job retaliated as he had with his three friends. We do see God interrupt Elihu to confront Job. When all was said and done, Job put his hand over his mouth, confessed, and repented before God restored his life. God even told Job to pray for his three friends (not including Elihu) because THEY did not speak right of God. What is it Job confessed though if he was blameless. Job s aid, Yes, I spoke, without understanding, of wonders far beyond me, which I didnt know. (Job 42:3, CJB) There is another reality Job recognized that brought resolution, or clarity to him in his conflict of which he sought resolution. It is found in Job 42:5, and it says, I had heard about you with my ears (faith comes by hearing the word of God), but now my eye sees you. (CJB) That was even before God restored everything x 2 to Job! Conflict resolution through negotiation can be good for all parties involved. Often, each side will get more by participating in negotiations than they would by walking away, and it can be a way for your group to get resources that might otherwise be out of reach. (Nagy, Wolf) Job experienced resolution through this conflict because he did not walk away, nor did he take his wifes advice, and though Job is the oldest book in the Bible, and probably the most desired if all other writings were lost, he still may have understood what Isaiah wrote in 1:18. That is the ultimate negotiation of God, the source of resolutions, and how Job was to get resources that might otherwise be out of reach. (Nagy, Wolf) Conflict resolution often speaks as having one in opposition to another, however, it also speaks of legitimate requests or expectations. Jobs three friends were obviously not legitimate accusations, but Elihus response was. We see four things at work in a situation in which there was conflict that found resolution. These four things may guide us in our own inner wrestle as well as our struggles with others. Those four things are stated as: I want it my way (unwilling to change or accept that change must occur. i.e. repentance) I have faith because Ive heard about you (the point of faith is that after, you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise) I dont understand and sometimes I dont need to BUT now my eye sees You. (Coming face to face with the One you really have an issue with) When we settle these four and come to the place of Job, even Christ, we may more assuredly walk out the many conflicts, yet with the understanding, in your anger do not sin. Apparently, Job did not. He just did not understand what was going on, before, during, and after. He just saw God and understood he did not understand, but God does. The conflict was quieted, not when God confronted him, but when he saw God, repented, and put his hand over his own mouth. Although God speaks of anger as something to not let linger, nor does it resolve anything, Baumeister Bushman say, Anger may therefore actually reduce aggression, compared to what the world would be like if people went directly into aggressive action as soon as they experienced conflict or frustration, which would say anger may be an avenue to resolution. (pg 200) Though we do not see the possible anger of Job, we do see his taunts toward his friends. Imagine if his friends responded in anger, assuming Job must have committed a crime against God. Job would have surely been put out of his misery and everyone else. Conclusion But how does this equate to living in the world and working with those who are slaves and those who claim to not be, yet obviously are using grace instead of repentance as their excuse to remain where they are? Grace gives favor to overcome, but learning the principles of repentance gives power, vision, and authority to be an overcomer. Repentance is effectively the hand that can grasp, and Grace is the glove that covers and is necessary to protect and comfort. We may also use the learning principles of forgiveness to not only offer grace to ourselves and others but walk in a humility and standard of repentance. The causation of most of our conflict is within our commitment to understand that not only is God not always understandable, but neither are we. However, resolution to the conflict is found with God, not in negotiating terms, but accepting His. Simply put, it is not the presence of conflict that stresses the relationship; it is the way one responds. (Berger) The resolution is not found without conflict, so both are necessary although not necessarily considered good to our emotions. Graduation Speech Elementary School - 852 Words

As I began school, I earned a much greater appreciation for the woods and lands on the ranch I grew up on. While I loved being at school, I dreaded the hour long bus ride each way. Not to mention the 15-minute drive down the ten-mile long dirt road to get to the bus stop. While in elementary school I was often found daydreaming and was often bored. After taking a series of standardized tests I was recommended for the gifted programs that were offered at the time. Although I did not want to be away from my friends, many of who were other ranch kids that I have been with since birth, I accepted going to the program at the urging of my teachers and my parents. I am not sure if the program is still in use, but as a child I found it amazing. There was very little strict curriculum, I was allowed to read all I wanted and there were many interactive lessons to choose from. I remained in that program throughout elementary, and wished that style of learning still existed as I moved on . Middle school was mostly a blur. I was in honors classes and did well, but really have very little memories of it as a whole. My single biggest memory from that time period was the start to my love of several of my hobbies, especially surfing and long range shooting. There were very few extracurricular sports offered except for little league baseball, which I always participated in and loved. My parents were extremely supportive of my endeavors, but never pushed them on me. After reading the article, â€Å"Discerning Spiritual Discernment: Assessing Current Approaches for Understanding God’s Will†, I see the value in the entire decision making factors listed in the article. I will though start off by saying the most important factor in any decision needed to be made is relying on God for his wisdom and guidance. Knowing and accepting that ultimately God has a plan makes decision making easier or makes decisions more clear. God does have a map for us to and it’s our decision to use it or not. My personal position on discernment will naturally influence how I address the clients concerns. I feel strongly that ultimately God has a plan for all of us and we need to trust Him and that will reflect some in my counseling. However my goal is to explore what is important to the client, his or her values, beliefs, experiences and decision making factors. They may rely more on scripture and less on prayer for knowing what God’s will is and I have to be open to that. I understand that decisions in life are always difficult and knowing exactly what Gods will is can be hard as well. Our timing and His timing are not always in the same timing and although it is hard we have to accept that. Looking back I saw that I took a much longer road in life myself. Would I go back and change any part of it? The answer is no. I lived, I learned an ultimately found Gods will and am using my gifts and can see how they have helped me get where I am now. I hope the same for my client.

I as Ryan’s form tutor have called Mrs Morris in for a conversation about Ryan’s behavioural changes and if she has seen any changes at home. This may make Ryan realise that if he attends his lesson or does not turn up to school he will be punished and his own free time will be took away from him. As Ryan is now in year 11 he will start to undergo examinations, it is important that Ryan starts to pay attention and starts concentrating, In my conversation I will use the following skills- Tone- In my conversation I will use a stern voice and tone as this will help me to get my message across to Mrs Morris. I will also use this tone as it help get my message across to Mrs Morris that Ryan’s Misbehaviour, Punctuality and Attendance is at a concerning stage and that a solution needs to be come up with. Language-In the conversation between me and Mrs Morris I will use appropriate language as I will be speaking to Mrs Morris who is known as another adult, therefore my language and vocabulary will be varied and have a wider range as I am speaking to an adult and not a pupil attending the school. Also when speaking to Mrs Morris I will make sure that my language is not patronizing as this may make Mrs Morris feel uncomfortable and offended. Clarifying and repeating- In the meeting with me and Mrs Morris, if Mrs Morris does not understand the problem or the solution which may be put into place for her son. I will repeat myself so Mrs Morris understands the information which is being giving to her. After repeating the information to Mrs Morris I will clarify that she has understood so she is still not confused or misunderstands any information. Listening and Responding- Listening and responding will be an important part of mine and Mrs Morris’ meeting as when I have am talking to Mrs Morris and giving her information about the situation, Mrs Morris will respond which will allow me to know if she has understood the information she is receiving. When I have spoken to Mrs Morris about the situation she may have some questions or may just agree with the information which I have gave her, she may also respond with some information that I may not know. Questioning- After I have spoken to Mrs Morris about the situation with Ryan, if she does have any questions about the situation I will answer the questions to the best of my ability , so she is fully aware about the situation and Ryan behaviour, also how the can be resolved to help Ryan to receive the best grades he can. Appropriate Environment- The meeting between me and Mrs Morris will be held in my office which is a quite area which will allow me and Mrs Morris to talk properly and not be interrupted by noise from other staff or pupils. When the meeting is held between me and Mrs Morris, Ryan will not be attending the meeting as he may try and interrupt and make out that I am lying about his misbehaviour in school. Also without Ryan being there I can a formal conversation with Mrs Morris without any interruptions. Proximity- During the meeting with me and Mrs Morris I will ensure that even though Mrs Morris will need to sit quite close to me so she is able to hear me, she is not so close to me that I am intruding her personal space as this may make her feel uncomfortable and feel like she is not able to talk to me. If Mrs Morris sits too far away from me I may not be able to hear what she is talking about or information may be misheard which may confuse the situation. Also if Mrs Morris mishears something and takes it in the wrong manner she may start to get angry about the situation and feel like I am lying about Ryan’s behaviour. Pace- When I am speaking to Mrs Morris I will not speak in a slow pace as it may make her feel patronised as she may think I am speaking to her like she is not going to understand the information. Also if I speak to Mrs Morris at a fast pace she may not be able to understand the information I am telling her about her son but may feel like she cannot say anything to me as she feels as it may upset me. I will speak to Mrs Morris in a medium flow pace as this will allow her to understand the information without feeling she there is a barrier between us. Defusing Anger- During my meeting with Mrs Morris if I had a conversation with Mrs Morris and I said something which upset her she may start to get angry or upset with what I have said. Mrs Morris may not want to show this to me and may start to not answer questions with me or may start to go quiet, if not she may take it the wrong and start to get angry and aggressive. To defuse this I will talk calmly to Mrs Morris and explain to her that I did not mean anything offensively or bad about her son. Dealing with difficult situations- In the conversation with Mrs Morris, Mrs Morris may become confused about the situation and what is happening. To ensure that Mrs Morris is not left in a difficult situation I will explain every detail to her so it is then understood. If Mrs Morris is left not knowing the correct information she may say something to her son Ryan which is incorrect and may make the situation bigger. Also in the conversation with Mrs Morris she may be suffering from other problems such as family problems or problems at home, to ensure I do not make the situation harder for Mrs Morris I will make the message clear of what I am trying to tell her.
